News Release - Funding for Drinking Water Filtration System
Mayor Runtz announced today that the Village of McBride Drinking Water Filtration System Project will proceed with $2.6 million in funding from the Canada Community-Building Fund and the Government of Canada.
The Project will see design and installation of a pre-treatment filtration system at the Dominion Creek Drinking Water Treatment Facility with the goal to eliminate boil water notices associated with high turbidity during spring freshet.
Design and construction of a Drinking Water Filtration System to connect to and supplement the existing water treatment will include the following project components:
- New building including electrical and mechanical infrastructure
- Filtration equipment and process piping
- Process water discharge system, and
- Civil, mechanical, and electrical engineering design and construction review
“Installation of a water filtration system will ensure a safe drinking water supply for residents of and visitors to the Village of McBride. The project supports improved quality of life for McBride’s residents and will benefit the business community. On behalf of Council, I’d like to thank the Canada Community-Building Fund and the Government of Canada for this much needed funding.”
A Request for Tender for the McBride Drinking Water Filtration System Project will be posted to BC Bid, Civic Info, local newspaper and on the Village of McBride website and Facebook.
