Freedom of Information
The Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FOIPPA) establishes a process by which any person can request access to information contained in records under the custody or control of the Village of McBride
The Act gives individuals rights to request records from the Village of McBride and to receive them in a timely manner. The Act also protects the privacy of individuals by placing restrictions on the Village of McBride when collecting or disclosing personal information.
The Village of McBride is committed to protecting your privacy.
The public has the right to access government information. If the information you are seeking is not available online, the first step is to make an informal request to the department that you think might have the information you are seeking. The records may be routinely available and may have a fee.
Request for information that is not routinely available or available from the department will require a Freedom of Information request to be submitted.
To make a FOI request download the Freedom of Request form and to email to or stop by the Village Office and ask a copy of the Freedom of request form.
There is no application fee to submit a request but there may be a fee as per Bylaw 805, 2022 - Fees & Charges 2022-2026 Schedule G- Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act.
Under Section 7 of the Act, a FOI request must be processed within 30 business days, except in special circumstances where limited extensions may be made.
Under Section 52 of the Act you may ask the Information and Privacy Commissioner to review any matter related to the Village's response to your request. The Act allows you 30 days from the date you receive this notice to request a review by writing to:
