Universal Water Metering Project
Request for Proposal (RFQ)
The Village of McBride is requesting proposals from qualified and experienced firms for the implementation of Advanced Metering Infrastructure on the water service connections within
the service area. This effort is part of the Water Meter Pilot Project (Pilot) launched by the Ministry of Housing and Municipal Affairs of British Columbia (Ministry) to promote water metering by providing funding for universal metering to selected water systems across British Columbia.
- Reduce per capita water use.
- Manage system water loss.
- Optimize water system operation and management.
The project will see the installation of 365 water meters (283 new water meters and 82 replacement water meters) and the installation of AMI technology to collect data to a central point that the Village can access the data all at once. The Village prefers a fixed network AMI due to varying cellular network coverage in the area. However, proposals will be considered using a cellular network AMI, or a combination of both.
The scope of the project is to be completed by March 31, 2027.
Proposals are to be emailed to with cc: to no later than 3:00 pm June 2, 2026.
