Declaration of State of Local Emergency: Drought Level 4

CREATED: Sep 19, 2023 11:09 am
LAST MODIFIED: Dec 20, 2023 15:12 pm

On Thursday, September 14, 2023, the Province raised the Drought Level in the Robson Valley to Level 5 (Extreme), the highest on the scale. As of November 30, 2023 the Drought level has been reduced to 4, which still signifies severe drought conditions.  Dominion Creek, which supplies the McBride Community Drinking Water System, is experiencing extremely low flows due to the ongoing, severe drought conditions.  A Water Conservation Notice, issued by the Village on May 17, 2023, reminding residents of year-round sprinkling restrictions, and a News Release issued on July 11, 2023, urging additional, voluntary water conservation, have not resulted in reduced water use. Water Usage Restrictions are necessary to ensure essential community services like drinking water, sanitary service and fire protection can be provided during this period of drought.
