Snow will be piled in windrows in the centre of roadways and removed to snow dumps following ploughing.
Please help our public works staff and snow clearing contractors by yielding to equipment involved in snow clearing.
When snowfalls are continuous or fall closely to one another, operations will continue to be repeated on the highest priorities until completed before moving on to the next priority. This may result in higher accumulations in the lower priority areas.
Snow Clearing - Sidewalks
Sidewalks are cleared upon accumulation of 5cm (2 1/2 inches) or more of snow. Priorities for sidewalk clearing are listed in the table below:
Main Street
Main Street - 5th Avenue - Beaverview Lodge to Post Office
Robson Centre
Elementary School Sidewalks to bus unloading area
Church sidewalks are cleared when time allows
Ice Control - Roads and Sidewalks
Sanding material used within the Village is of the same standard used on the Provincial Highways. Material is 12mm or less aggregate mixed with road salt. Priority for sanding is the same as for snow ploughing.
Sidewalks will recieve ice control as conditions dictate using road sand, lava rock and/or de-icers.
Residents and visitors are advised that although all reasonable effort is made to keep our streets and sidewalks safe during winter weather conditions, everyone should exercise due diligence by wearing proper footwear and taking caution while walking or driving in winter conditions.
